RE: [ISSForum] Solaris Panic & rsdrv drivers
Hi all,
I had a similar problem in the past, when only SR 3.3 was available. The
README file was very confuse, because it said that applying the SR3.2 was
necessary only if you had done a FRU (Full Remote Upgrade) from RealSecure
6.0 to 6.5, but, at the same time, It seemed to say that to apply SR3.3, it
was necessary to install SR3.2 before.
So, the complications just started, because for apply a SR earlier than the
most recent from SiteProtector console, you must to edit the XML catalog,
erasing the latest SR references until do SR3.2 the latest entry in that
section of the file. OK, I achieve this, but when I tried to apply it to a
Solaris Server Sensor 6.5, an error appeared saying something regarding an
"operative system situation".
Then, I talked to ISS support to know what to do, clarifying that I
installed Server Sensor 6.5 directly from the last release available, not
through a FRU from 6.0. Finally, after several consultations inside ISS,
the support engineer said that I could apply SR3.3 directly without passing
for SR3.2.
I did this in my "problem server", and the system hasn't crashed again.
ISS has the latest word....

Thanks I will fix. You will need to install 3.2 first.

release notes say 3.4 is a cumulative patch in the next section it
says that 3.2 should be installed first. Is this a new definition of
the word cumulative? Do I really need to install 3.2 first?

Subject: [ISSForum] Solaris Panic & rsdrv drivers
Hi Forum,
We have a couple of servers running Solaris 8 in our
network, it has been observed recently that the servers
crashed several times due to an unknown problem, a core
dump was captured from the servers and passed to Sun
Microsystems for their analyses and they have come with
the following :
System panic'ed (rebooted) deep in rsdrv (non sun)
drivers code due to a NULL pointer.
rsdrv drivers is RealSecure Driver 1.0 from ISS.
RealSecure verison: 6.5
Does anyone know what this driver is & how I can stop
this from happening again. Any of the ISS guys have seen
this before, if yes, please advise.
regards
Mustapha
