Use "rcsshd restart" if you want to end the server process first.

"reload" loads the configuration files, but doesn't interrupt
running ssh sessions.

That is correct reload doesn't interrupt running ssh sessions but it kills my sshd-daemon
I have to use reload because I'm connected over ssh to the server.

I don't have this behavior on SuSE8.1 servers.
