No. But I had strange problems too, when I made exactly the same update
of my SuSE 7.3: In certain moments the PC freezed while I was working
(doing nothing special), and my scanner's SCSI card did not work at all.

So I updated to the patched kernel proposed for SuSE 8.1 (2.4.19-274),
and it seems that everything is o.k.

Maybe that is an option for you, too. Without warranty, of course :-)
