but shouldn't it look like this:
    in /etc/inetd.conf
    ftp stream  tcp     nowait  root    /usr/sbin/tcpd
/usr/local/sbin/proftpd
and
    in /usr/local/etc/proftpd.conf
    ServerType    inetd
to start proftpd in inetd mode?
