First of all, your problem is not security related at all, so you 
simply bark at the wrong tree..

Additionally, your problem description misses any very basic 
information, such as fdisk -l and cat /proc/mdstat, so you can't even 
expect helpful hints.

I do regulary SW RAID, but never encountered such a problem, more the 
other way around, 2.6.5-7.75 is the first official SuSE kernel, which 
allows for SW RAID on a couple of formerly dysfunctional systems..
