[HP] Schwachstelle in asecure - HPSBUX0103-145

soeben erreichte uns das nachfolgende Bulletin der HP SupportLine.
Wir geben diese Informationen unveraendert an Sie weiter.
Das asecure Programm dient dazu, einzelnen Benutzern und Gruppen
Zugriff auf das Audio-Device unter HP-UX zu gewaehren. Einige Dateien,
die von asecure benutzt werden, haben zu weit gefasste Permissions.
Ein lokaler Angreifer kann diese Schwachstelle dazu ausnutzen,
entweder fuer sich oder Dritte Zugriff auf das Audio-Device zu
erlangen oder anderen Benutzern den Zugriff auf das Audio-Device zu
verwehren (Denial-of-Service).
Betroffen von dieser Schwachstelle sind HP-UX 10.01, 10.10, 10.20 und
11.00. HP stellt Patches zur Behebung der Schwachstelle bereit. Bitte
beachten Sie auch die Zusatzinformationen zu den einzelnen Patches im
angefuegten Advisory.

PROBLEM: Certain files used by the asecure program have unsafe
permissions.
PLATFORM: HP9000 Series 700/800 running HP-UX releases 10.01, 10.10,
10.20 and 11.00 only.
DAMAGE: Possible denial of service
SOLUTION: Install the appropriate patch for the HP-UX release

Certain files used by the asecure program have unsafe permissions.
B. Recommended solution
**REVISED 02**
Obtain the necessary patch from itrc.hp.com, as described below.
| For HP-UX releases 10.01, 10.10,10.20: PHSS_21662
| and 11.00: PHSS_21663
NOTE: No patch is needed for HP-UX 11.11.
**REVISED 02**
| Note: The Envizex II and possibly other HP X-terminals will
| not work correctly with PHSS_22935 and PHSS_22936.
| These patches have been withdrawn. Until new pathces
| available customers should use PHSS_21662 or PHSS_21663
| and make the following permissions changes which were done
| in PHSS_22935 and PHSS_22936 for security:

| /usr/bin/chmod 444 /var/opt/audio/asecure_log
| /usr/bin/chmod 444 /var/opt/audio/audio_error_log
C. To subscribe to automatically receive future NEW HP Security
Bulletins from the HP IT Resource Center via electronic mail,
do the following:
Use your browser to get to the HP IT Resource Center page
at:
http://itrc.hp.com
Under the Maintenance and Support Menu (Electronic Support
Center): click on the "more..." link. Then -
Use the 'Login' tab at the left side of the screen to login
using your ID and password. Check with your system
administrator to see if you have an existing login or use
the "Register" button at the left to create a login. You
will need to login in order to gain access to many areas of
the ITRC. Remember to save the User ID assigned to you, and
your password.
Under the Maintenance and Support Menu, click on the "more..."
link. Under the "Notifications" section (near the bottom of
the page), select "Support Information Digests".
To -subscribe- to future HP Security Bulletins or other
Technical Digests, click the check box (in the left column)
for the appropriate digest and then click the "Update
Subscriptions" button at the bottom of the page.

To -review- bulletins already released, select the link
(in the middle column) for the appropriate digest.
To -gain access- to the Security Patch Matrix, select
the link for "hp security bulletins archive" near the bottom.
Once in the archive the top link is to our current Security
Patch Matrix. Updated daily, this matrix categorizes security
patches by platform/OS release, and by bulletin topic.
