Re: [suse-security] Installing and Updating Snort

Eric:

Generally, getting newer versions (rpms or otherwise) for any SuSE
program is not a problem. You should be more concerned with getting new
rulesets and patches. You can always download the latest stable version
from http://www.snort.org/dl/.

If you decide to compile from source, generally you can count on the
software including a file called INSTALL. This file contains everything
you need to know about building the software.

Your books should also include installation instructions. You should go
ahead and build it a couple of times until you're satisfied with the
results.
