VULNERABILITY SUMMARY:
A potential security vulnerability has been identified in the HP HTTP Server component of HP Web-enabled Management Software, which includes the HP System Management Homepage and the HP Insight Management agents, allowing a remote anonymous user to compromise certificates if the Anonymous Access Option has been enabled.

By default, HP Web-enabled Management Software is
configured with the Anonymous Access option disabled.

The HTTP Server version is displayed at the bottom
left-hand corner of the HP System Management
Homepage.

SUPPORTED SOFTWARE VERSIONS*: ONLY impacted versions are listed. HP HTTP Server (Version 5.0 through Version 5.92) for Microsoft NT/Windows 2000, HP-UX, Netware, Linux Survey, Compaq Array Configuration, System Insight Manager XE (SNMP & DMI Agents). Compaq Foundation Agents for Servers.

BACKGROUND:
If the Anonymous Access option is enabled, an anonymous
user could potentially send malicious group configuration requests to the server and compromise the server's Trusted Certificates setting.

Note: By default, HP Web-enabled Management Software
is configured with the Anonymous Access option
      disabled.

HP Company wishes to thank Dave Aitel of Immunity, Inc.
for reporting this vulnerability to HP and assisting
us to protect all of our valued customers.

RESOLUTION:
HP recommends that customers upgrade to HP HTTP Server
Version 5.93 (or later), which is available in the HP Web-Enabled Management Software Security Patch for Windows Version 5.93B (or later) and downloadable as SoftPaq SP25747. The latest Security Patch SoftPaq is available for download from the following URL: http://h18023.www1.hp.com/support/files/Server/us/download/20197.html

Note:
HP HTTP Server Version 5.93 (or later) will be included
in future releases of HP Web-enabled Management Software,
until then HP strongly recommends that customers leave anonymous access disabled or if enabled disable as described below.

To help protect other existing installations until the recommended upgrade is applied, HP strongly recommends that the Anonymous Access option is disabled for all HP Web-enabled Management Software. The Anonymous Access option is accessed from the HP System Management Homepage as follows:

     - Launch the HP System Management Homepage.
     - Click on the Settings tab.
     - Click "Options" under HTTP Server.
     - Verify that the check box next to Anonymous
        Access is not checked.
     - Click "Save Configuration."

To ensure that HP Web-enabled Management Software has
the most current enhancements and patches, upgrade to the latest versions as they become available. For additional information, refer to the ProLiant server management web site at the following URL:www.hp.com/servers/manage
