overflow have been reported in the X Window System as shipped
with HP Tru64 UNIX.

2.  A potential security vulnerability has been identified with HP-UX running the CIFS Server (Samba).  This vulnerability could potentially be exploited remotely to gain arbitrary file access.

BACKGROUND:
    HP has corrected these potential vulnerabilities by releasing
    the kit identified in the resolution section below.

RESOLUTION:
    Until the corrections are available in a mainstream release
    patch kit, HP is releasing the following Early Release Patch
   (ERP) kits publicly for use by any customer.

    The ERP kits use dupatch to install and will not install over
    any installed Customer Specific Patches (CSPs) that have file
    intersections with the ERPs.  Contact your service provider
    for assistance if the installation of the ERPs is blocked by
    any of your installed CSPs.

    The fixes contained in the ERP kits are scheduled to be
    available in the following mainstream patch kits:

A potential security vulnerability has been identified with HP-UX running the CIFS Server (Samba).  This vulnerability could potentially be exploited remotely to gain arbitrary file access.

SUPPORTED SOFTWARE VERSIONS*:  ONLY impacted versions are listed. HP-UX B.11.00, B.11.11, B.11.22, and B.11.23.

Note: To determine if a system has an affected version,
          search the output of "swlist -a revision -l fileset"
          for an affected fileset.  Then determine if the
          recommended patch or fileset is installed.

END AFFECTED VERSIONS

Note: The HP CIFS Server versions do not map directly to
          the original Samba versions.  The what(1) output will
          show the HP-UX version string, for example: A.01.11.02.
          Samba commands such as "smbd -V" or "smbstatus" will
           report the underlying base Samba version, for
           example: 2.2.10.

RESOLUTION:
The HP-UX CIFS (Samba) version A.01.11.03 has been
made updates available from http://software.hp.com
to eliminate this vulnerability.
